The obstacles remain separate, giving you the freedom to arrange the setup around your skating space and the skills you want to develop.
Explore both sides of the Micro Spine
The Micro Spine brings back-to-back curved faces into the setup. Approach from either direction and work on carrying speed across the shape as your ability allows. Keep both sides clear so the return route is as usable as the first approach.
Give grinds and slides their own place
A skate rail adds a different challenge from the two wooden ramps. Position it with clear pavement before and after the working surface, then choose grinds or slides that suit your skills. It can be its own practice area rather than something you must connect to a ramp.
Choose a launch or a wallie approach
Launch WR combines a sloping takeoff with a steeper wallie face. That gives you different ways to approach one obstacle as you develop your skating. Leave the landing and exit clear for the side you plan to use, rather than squeezing it into whatever space remains.
Get the board and obstacles together
A complete skateboard is included with the ramps and rail. For someone building a setup from scratch, that brings the major pieces into one order. Add appropriate protective gear separately and choose a suitable surface before setting out the obstacles.
Plan a layout you will want to skate

Organize the two wooden ramp kits
Keep the Micro Spine and Launch WR parts separate while assembling them, and follow each ramp’s photo instructions. Place the rail after the ramps so you can plan useful space around all three obstacles.
Leave room on both sides
The Micro Spine and Launch WR can be approached in different ways. Allow room for the side you intend to skate, the landing and a clear exit. Do not use one combined footprint as a substitute for planning those routes.
Questions about OC Ramps Starter Package 2
Is Package 2 the right choice for a first ramp setup?
It can suit someone who wants different ramp shapes and a rail, but the right choice depends on the rider and available space. Not every feature or trick needs to be used immediately. Start with the approaches you can control, then add variety as your skills develop.
What is different about Package 1?
Package 1 includes two matching Wedge Bumps rather than a Micro Spine and Launch WR. Choose the matching pair if that is the shape you want to skate; choose Package 2 for its mix of curved transition, launch and wallie faces. Both packages also include a rail and complete skateboard.
Does Starter Package 2 come with protective gear?
No. A properly fitted skate helmet and appropriate pads are separate from the package. Include them in your setup budget along with a suitable place to skate.
What can I practice with the different obstacles?
Use the Micro Spine for transition approaches and crossing the center, the Launch WR for takeoffs or wallie tricks, and the rail for grinds and slides. Choose each use around your ability and keep the approach, landing and exit clear. Variety does not mean you need to link everything into one run.
Can I return the OC Ramps Starter Package 2 if it is not the right fit?
Eligible unused products may be requested for return within 30 calendar days of purchase when they are in original condition and packaging with all included parts and manuals. Customized, used, skated, damaged, or incomplete products are not eligible, and freight, original shipping, processing costs, and a restocking fee may apply. The internet has all sorts of terrible ideas as to how to quiet or dampen the sound of your skateboard ramp - in particular the mini ramps (or halfpipes).
You may read about wives tales on using insulation, filling the coping with whatever, or add pillows and blankets behind the ramp. We are here to clear the air….that is all nonsense.
There are really only 2 suggestions to help quiet your mini ramp.
- You can close up the back of your skateboard ramp with ¾” thick plywood. This will eliminate the hollow sound significantly. Again, don’t read into the bogus information about filling in that empty space before you close it up with plywood. It doesn’t work. Simply closing up the backend will help with the noise. Some customers will get creative with it- we’ve seen several put hinges on the backend - making a custom door for storage, etc. That is entirely optional to make use of the space. But in terms of noise levels, close it up.
- Also using a softer gel wheel is helpful to give you the incognito vibe your neighbors won’t complain about while shredding your skateboard ramp. Generally the harder the wheel, the louder they hear ya coming! Many skaters have multiple skateboards with a different set of wheels, most prefer the harder wheels during normal street skating use & then at night we switch over to the gel softer wheels so your neighbor’s can get their precious sleep & you can shred your heart out! Not every skater likes riding a gel wheel. There are many pros/cons. For this conversation, the biggest pro for having a softer wheel is the reduced noise factor. If you have neighbors that are goin to be a narc, just throw on the soft wheels!
