Skate Ramp Shipping and Delivery: What to Expect
The decision to make
Know the order's shipping method, carrier handoff and route to the build area before you buy, then give the receiving person one clear plan.
Delivery has three separate moments: the order reaching the receiving point, the shipment being inspected, and the parts moving to a prepared staging or build area. This guide helps a first-time buyer or project planner ask the right questions before checkout instead of treating “shipping included” as the whole delivery plan.

Before ordering, answer four questions: how will this configuration ship, where does the carrier's responsibility end, who will inspect and receive it, and how will the packages reach a protected staging area? The finished-ramp photo above cannot answer any of them; use the current product and order details.
Check how your ramp will arrive
OC Ramps currently offers free shipping to the 48 contiguous U.S. states with no minimum. Alaska and Hawaii require a quote under the current policy. Free shipping describes the charge for the covered shipment; it does not by itself describe package type, unloading, movement through the property or assembly.
GatorSkins and Skatelite panels purchased by themselves carry a shipping charge. Panels purchased as part of a qualifying half-pipe order ship on the ramp pallet without a separate panel-shipping charge. Confirm the selected ramp, panel quantity and destination with OC Ramps before ordering; do not assume every ramp or standalone panel order qualifies.
Use the exact product, selected configuration, destination and current cart or order details to confirm the method and requirements. If you are working toward a date, check the handling and delivery estimate before ordering. Once the order is placed, keep its updates and tracking information with the receiving plan.
Parcel and freight are different handoffs
Smaller items may travel as parcels. Larger ramp orders may move by freight. The exact method depends on the product, configuration and order, so a completed-ramp photo or another customer's delivery cannot establish how yours will arrive.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Package or freight format | Changes the receiving space, carrier access and handling plan you may need. |
| Handoff point | Defines where the carrier's work ends and your route to staging begins. |
| Receiving contact | Ensures the person present has the order details and knows what to inspect. |
| Appointment instructions | Keeps any order-specific coordination separate from assumptions based on parcel delivery. |
Prepare before the carrier arrives
Build the receiving plan backward from the final staging area. The person at the handoff should know what is arriving, where it can be placed and what route remains after the carrier leaves.
- Order: confirm the delivery address, reachable phone number, product configuration and current instructions.
- Carrier access: check truck and curb access when freight applies and keep any appointment details available.
- Handoff: clear the receiving area and arrange the help named in the order instructions.
- Route: measure gates, doors, turns, stairs and grade changes between receiving and staging.
- Staging: choose a protected area that does not block access and keeps packages identifiable.
If any part of that route is uncertain, contact OC Ramps with the product, configuration and measured constraint before ordering.
Inspect the shipment at handoff
Attended delivery with a receipt: inspect the shipment before signing. Compare the visible shipment with the current order information, count the packages you can verify and look for visible damage. Follow the order instructions for documenting any problem.
Parcel left at the property: check the package when you retrieve it and record any visible damage or missing package against the order and tracking information. There may be no driver present or receipt to sign; use the order's reporting instructions and contact OC Ramps about the delivery issue.
Damage found while unpacking: stop work on the affected component and record what you found, including the package and part identity. Keep the packaging and delivery paperwork, then contact OC Ramps with the order number and photos for the applicable next step.
If something appears missing or damaged, record the condition at handoff and keep the packaging, photos and delivery paperwork together for OC Ramps to review. Do not discard packaging, alter an affected part or begin assembly around an unresolved component. The goal is to preserve a clear record of what arrived and what did not match.
Move from receiving to the build
After the shipment is accounted for, move it only along the measured route and stage it according to the current order and product instructions. Keep panels, boxes, hardware and metal components grouped and identifiable so the receiving problem does not become an assembly problem.
Getting the ramp delivered and being ready to assemble it are two different jobs. Use the exact product manual and Skate Ramp Kit Assembly: What to Expect for the build plan. Confirm the base, drainage and final area through Prepare Your Site for a Skate Ramp before assembly begins.
Separate handling time from transit time
Handling is the time before an order enters the carrier network. Transit is the time after the carrier has it. If an expedited option is available, confirm which part of the schedule it changes for the exact order. A dispatch target is not a guaranteed arrival date.
For a birthday, contractor visit or other date-sensitive plan, work backward without treating an estimate as an appointment. Check the current information before ordering, then use order updates and tracking rather than an old transit map. Keep installation or build dates flexible until the relevant delivery arrangements are confirmed.
Ask about destinations outside the free-shipping area
For Alaska, Hawaii or another destination outside the 48 contiguous U.S. states, ask OC Ramps about the exact product and destination before ordering. Include the product configuration and postal code so the team can check availability and quote the appropriate delivery arrangement.
Keep one receiving plan everyone can use
| Check | What to record and why |
|---|---|
| Order and destination | Keep the order number, product configuration, delivery address and reachable contact together. Give the receiving person the same information. |
| Method and appointment | Record whether parcel or freight applies and any appointment instructions. Do not assume a standard parcel drop-off for a large or heavy product. |
| Handoff and unloading | Record the delivery point and unloading requirements from your order. Arrange the specified help before the carrier arrives; do not assume installation is included. |
| Route and storage | Measure the route to the staging area and decide where the shipment will go. A delivery that reaches the curb has not necessarily reached the place you will build. |
| Inspection and support | Keep the order instructions, photographs and delivery paperwork together. Use the reporting instructions supplied with the order, or contact OC Ramps with the order number and issue before discarding packaging or altering an affected part. |
If access is tight or timing matters, talk with OC Ramps before ordering. Bring the product, selected configuration, postal code, delivery location, narrowest access measurement and the date you are planning around. Ask how the order is expected to ship, where the handoff occurs and what receiving requirements apply. For a custom project, make sure transport, site access and installation responsibilities are defined in the proposal.
Example: two open items before freight delivery
In this fictional freight-order example, the buyer is the receiving contact and a household member is the backup. An appointment does not, by itself, confirm the handoff location or unloading service.
| Open item | Who confirms it and what to arrange |
|---|---|
| Handoff location | The buyer sends access details to the carrier and confirms whether the proposed street-side driveway entrance is the agreed delivery point. Record the answer separately from the appointment. |
| Unloading | The buyer checks the order-specific requirements with OC Ramps and confirms any carrier-provided service with the carrier. Arrange the required people or equipment; do not assume driver assistance. |
Status: not ready to receive. Confirm both items, then share the agreed handoff, unloading plan and clear staging route with everyone helping.
Questions buyers ask about delivery
Tap or click a question to expand its answer.
Is shipping free everywhere?
OC Ramps currently offers free shipping to the 48 contiguous U.S. states with no minimum. Alaska and Hawaii require a quote under the current policy. For another destination, ask about the exact product and postal code before ordering because availability and delivery arrangements can differ. Product-specific freight requirements remain tied to the current product page, cart and order details.
Will my ramp arrive as regular parcels or by freight?
It depends on the exact product, configuration and order. Smaller items may travel as parcels, while larger ramp components may ship by freight. Check the delivery method and receiving instructions for the order instead of assuming every ramp arrives the same way. If access is tight, contact OC Ramps with the product, configuration and delivery location before buying.
Can I plan around an exact delivery date?
Treat handling time and carrier transit time as separate parts of the schedule. Confirm the current estimate for your selected configuration before ordering, then use order updates and tracking once it ships. A dispatch target is not a guaranteed arrival date. Keep installation and other date-sensitive plans flexible until the relevant delivery arrangements are confirmed for your order.
What should I prepare before delivery day?
Confirm the delivery address, reachable phone number, receiving person and current order instructions. Clear the handoff area, check truck and curb access when freight applies, and measure the route to a protected staging area. Arrange any receiving help named in the instructions. The Site Preparation guide can help you confirm that the final build area is ready too.
Who moves the shipment from the delivery point to the build area?
The order and delivery instructions define the carrier handoff. Plan the route, staging space and people needed beyond that point separately. Do not assume the carrier will move packages through a gate, doorway, yard or building, or that delivery includes assembly. Before buying, measure narrow turns, stairs and grade changes between the receiving point and the place where the ramp will be built.
What should I do if packages are missing or visibly damaged?
For an attended delivery with a receipt, inspect before signing and follow the order's documentation steps. For a parcel left at the property or damage found during unpacking, record the issue when you discover it. Keep the packaging, photos, order number and delivery paperwork, and contact OC Ramps for the applicable reporting steps. Do not alter an affected part or begin building around a missing, damaged or unidentified component.
