OC Ramps + X Games: Skate Ramps, Celebs and an Unforgettable Weekend

While building a concrete skate park out in Iowa, we received a game-changing message from X Games. They wanted to talk about mini ramps—our favorite topic, hands down. On the call, they casually mentioned being long-time fans of OC Ramps, which blew our minds.

Side note: can you believe OC Ramps is about to celebrate 20 years in business? Starting in a garage in Huntington Beach as a hobby, I never imagined we’d get a call from the X Games. Talk about a dream come true!

Their vision? Two custom mini ramps for their event in Ventura: one for the public and another for the musicians’ exclusive VIP area. Picture this - skaters shredding alongside names like Wiz Khalifa and MGK.

After some brainstorming, we landed on the perfect specs:

  • Public Ramp: A 16-foot-wide halfpipe, 3.5 feet tall, with a 5-foot corner extension and a roll-in for beginners.

  • VIP Ramp: A sleek 8-foot-wide, 2.5-foot-tall ramp spanning 22 feet in length, nestled in the heart of the VIP lounge surrounded by RVs, coolers, and chill vibes.

To amp up the experience, X Games provided skateboards, helmets, and pads while OC Ramps managed the booth, welcoming skaters and ensuring everyone was geared up. To top it off, we painted the ramps in vibrant colors that perfectly matched both brands.

X Games also wanted our pro team to put on demos and teach kids how to skate—something we absolutely love doing.

Respect for the musicians’ space was key in the VIP section, but with our years of working alongside celebrities, we knew the drill. Tom and Christian were on fire, helping guests, including MGK’s crew, get rolling on the ramp. Fun moment: MGK’s team was so hyped they asked us for a photo! Who’s the celebrity now, right?

The energy over the three-day event was electric. Ventura, with its gorgeous beachfront, perfect weather, and buzzing crowd, set the stage for an unforgettable time.

By day, we worked the ramps, ran demos and hosted open skate sessions. By night, we hit rooftop parties hosted by Monster Energy.

It was equal parts exhilarating and exhausting—13-hour event days followed by late-night hangs.

We’ve got to give props to the X Games team for their organization and vision. The schedule was flawless, balancing public skate sessions with pro demos.

After three action-packed days, we disassembled the ramps, packed up the tools, and headed back to Orange County—exhausted but stoked beyond words.

The most rewarding part of it all? Seeing the kids light up as they landed tricks or learned something new. Hearing the X Games crew insist we come back next year was the ultimate compliment.
