Five feet tall when the setup needs more transition

The 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp is for a setup ready to move beyond a compact transition. Its 30-foot base length and optional 7-foot corner deserve honest site planning, then a surface decision that respects the bigger ramp rather than disguising it behind an upgrade label.

Start with a thirty-foot commitment

At 5 feet tall, the base 12-foot-wide version is 30 feet long, with a 16-foot-wide option available. That is a serious footprint for a home property or dedicated space. Measure the finished ramp and the routes around it first, because a larger half pipe needs room to be skated safely and accessed during a build.

Choose whether seven feet belongs in the plan

The standard layout is 5 feet tall at 12 or 16 feet wide, with one corner extension reaching 7 feet. That decision changes one transition, not the entire ramp. Pick it because the regular riders and site call for that taller corner, not because it sounds like a blanket performance improvement.

Choose the final layer for a taller transition

Two plywood riding layers are included, and the optional third plywood layer completes the all-wood surface path. Use two gallons of Skate Paint when plywood remains the exposed riding surface. For a dedicated final skating surface, choose 12 or 16 GatorSkins sheets in Brown or Green by ramp width, or upgrade to the same count of Skatelite Pro sheets for the premium professional-grade surface. Premium builds use the width-matched paint amount only on exposed plywood.

Plan a build measured in days

Plan about one to two days with a drill. That schedule rewards a level foundation and a deliberate sequence for the pre-cut boards, transition pieces, hardware, and photo instructions. Give the project enough uninterrupted time to check the structure before surface work or the first ride.

Use a quote for the whole tall-ramp job

For a ramp at this scale, decide the height, width, and riding surface before requesting an installation price. Financing is available with Shop Pay Installments; available plans, rates, and approval depend on the order and buyer eligibility. Paid installation is quoted for the actual address, travel, timing, access, and site preparation instead of using a generic installation price.

Questions about 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp

How does the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe compare with the 3 Foot Tall Halfpipe?

The 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe starts at five feet, offers 12- or 16-foot widths, uses a 30-foot base length for its 12-foot version, and can add one 7-foot corner. The 3 Foot Tall Halfpipe keeps a three-foot transition across 8-, 12-, or 16-foot widths. Choose the taller model only when its greater height and footprint serve the intended riders and site.

How does the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe compare with the 12 Foot Wide Half Pipe?

The 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe begins at five feet and uses a 30-foot length for its base 12-foot-wide version, with one optional 7-foot corner. The 12 Foot Wide Half Pipe starts 3.5 feet tall, runs 22 feet 8 inches long, and can add one 5-foot corner. Choose the transition scale and finished length before comparing surfaces.

What can riders practice on the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp?

Use the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp for repeated transition runs and progression on skills such as kickturns, rock-to-fakies, axle stalls, and linking tricks from wall to wall. The exact progression should match the rider's ability, the selected transition, and the clear skating area around the ramp.

How much room should I plan around the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp?

Start with the assembled dimensions for the selected width, height, corner, and surface configuration. Then leave a clear approach, roll-away, deck access, and enough working room for assembly and maintenance. Confirm the actual site before ordering; the listed product footprint alone is not the same as a complete skating-area plan.

Can I return the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp if it is not the right fit?

Eligible unused products may be requested for return within 30 calendar days of purchase when they are in original condition and packaging with all included parts and manuals. Customized, used, skated, damaged, or incomplete products are not eligible, and freight, original shipping, processing costs, and a restocking fee may apply. Review the current OC Ramps Return Policy before ordering.

Can OC Ramps build a custom version of the 5 Foot Tall Halfpipe Ramp?

Yes. If the standard width, height, transition, or corner layout does not fit the site or intended riding, start with OC Ramps' Custom Builds page. Share the usable footprint, rider needs, desired transition, access, and location so the project can be evaluated as a custom build instead of forcing a standard kit into the wrong space.

What to Expect

We have two teams working around the clock to mass produce the beloved kits that are in high demand, after all we service ALL skaters worldwide! The fabrication time in our warehouse starts when you place the order as the information prints out directly to our team to start production. After the kit is created, the next process is actual transit time. We work with several carriers for a variety of our products to help cut down on transit times and delays.

Our Quarter Pipe kits (4ft wide Quarter Pipe & larger), Half Pipes, and sheets of GatorSkins or Skatelite Pro all ship on a double size pallet (4ft wide x 8ft long) via freight carrier. As the double sized pallet leaves our warehouse, the freight carrier will then begin the transit process to get your order over to your local delivery terminal. As your shipment arrives in your local area, the freight carrier will have an appointment setter call you directly to schedule an appointment for delivery. Just like when you book an appointment with the cable company, you will be given a 4 – 8-hour window of delivery.

The freight driver will then arrive at your residential delivery address on the day of your scheduled appointment. Please note that this will be a curbside delivery. The driver will not be able to pull into your driveway or any other requested area on your property. You will want to be sure to have 2 – 3 able-bodied adults, in total, at your place of residence during the delivery window to assist with the unloading of this pallet. Provided the size and weight of these shipments, a liftgate is not permitted and drivers are unable to assist with any of the hand unloading process. The pallet is easy to breakdown to execute a hand unloading process with yourself and a few additional helping hands.

The entire unloading process may seem daunting however it is a fairly simple process that can be executed within 10 – 20 minutes! Please keep in mind that delays may occur with the delivery. We understand that this can be frustrating. If you experience a missed appointment, please reach out to us and our team is happy to help.

If you notice any damages or issues with the order upon receiving, please proceed with accepting the shipment, but notate on the delivery receipt by stating “DAMAGE” when signing the delivery receipt. You do not need to itemize any material which was damaged when accepting the shipment. Once your shipment has been unloaded and signed, please email our team directly with the damage(s), proof of signed delivery receipt which has been notated as damaged along with full length pictures of the material which was damaged. We will work on resolving the issue immediately.

The internet has all sorts of terrible ideas as to how to quiet or dampen the sound of your skateboard ramp - in particular the mini ramps (or halfpipes).

You may read about wives tales on using insulation, filling the coping with whatever, or add pillows and blankets behind the ramp.  We are here to clear the air….that is all nonsense.

There are really only 2 suggestions to help quiet your mini ramp.

  1. You can close up the back of your skateboard ramp with ¾” thick plywood.  This will eliminate the hollow sound significantly.  Again, don’t read into the bogus information about filling in that empty space before you close it up with plywood.  It doesn’t work.  Simply closing up the backend will help with the noise.  Some customers will get creative with it- we’ve seen several put hinges on the backend - making a custom door for storage, etc.  That is entirely optional to make use of the space.  But in terms of noise levels, close it up.

  2. Also using a softer gel wheel is helpful to give you the incognito vibe your neighbors won’t complain about while shredding your skateboard ramp. Generally the harder the wheel, the louder they hear ya coming! Many skaters have multiple skateboards with a different set of wheels, most prefer the harder wheels during normal street skating use & then at night we switch over to the gel softer wheels so your neighbor’s can get their precious sleep & you can shred your heart out!  Not every skater likes riding a gel wheel.  There are many pros/cons.  For this conversation, the biggest pro for having a softer wheel is the reduced noise factor.  If you have neighbors that are goin to be a narc, just throw on the soft wheels!
