We Built a Temporary Mini Ramp for a Supreme-Themed Birthday Party in Malibu! 🛹🎉

We do not always offer our skate ramps for birthday parties because generally speaking the birthday boy or girl would rather buy the project and keep it forever.

However in this particular case we had a family in Malibu that only wanted a ramp temporarily just for the day to celebrate their son’s 13th birthday. The birthday party was going to be Supreme themed. And like Supreme’s branded colors everything was primarily red with a little bit of white and the Supreme logo on just about everything.

We were contacted by a Los Angeles event planner that was in charge of coordinating all the logistics and design for this particular birthday event. She wanted a ramp at a certain dimension not to overtake the grass area of the backyard. They were very particular about when the ramp could be installed and then removed directly after the party. Furthermore, they were interested in hiring two of our professional skaters to perform a demonstration during the birthday party. Beyond a demonstration they were hoping that the skaters could teach some of the birthday party attendees how to skate or some of the basic tricks.

The great thing about the OC Ramps skateboard team is most of our riders are not only great at skateboarding but they are great with social skills and communicating. They love talking with parents and children. A handful of the pro skaters on our roster have also worked with skate camps in the past and so many of them have experience being skate instructors or teachers.

The event planner decided to go with our 8 foot wide by 3 foot tall mini ramp that is 22 feet long. They wanted the natural look of the wood grain but they also wanted some big prominent Supreme decals. We began pre-fabrication at our facility in Orange County and we quickly sent the vector graphic files to our local printer to work on the vinyl.

We also coordinated two incredible skaters Tom Ryan and Dave Bachinsky to be the hired talent for the event. Both of them were extremely excited to participate in this. What could be more exciting than skating a ramp for kids that are stoked and celebrating a birthday.

Upon the day of arrival we showed up with our truck and all the pieces ready to go along with five workers. Our goal was to assemble the ramp as quickly as possible because we actually had to drive further north to build a couple of ramps in Santa Barbara that same day. This birthday ramp was assembled in less than 60 minutes! I think it was a true new record for us.

Fortunately the grass was level so we did not have to worry about shimming up anything which can often add an extra hour or two to our installation process. But because everything was level and because we had the expert crew that we do we were able to zip this up in a matter of minutes and have the guys test out the ramp just before the kids were let through to the yard. As we were building the ramp the DJ decided to set up his space directly beside us which also made it fun for us so we could listen to music while we were working!

The kids loved the event. They all watched the skaters. Dave and Tom were very gracious with their time. They spoke to each kid individually gave him a high five and handed out a sticker.

When the event ended and the attendees left we quickly disassembled the ramp, threw it on our truck and drove it back to Santa Ana.

We had a blast doing what we love but more importantly our customers the event planner the parents the birthday boy and all the attendees had a great time. It was a fabulous Saturday.
