Cherokee, Iowa’s Skateboarding Transformation: A New Concrete Skatepark
Cherokee, Iowa, now has a 10,000 sq. ft. concrete skatepark, thanks to the community and OC Ramps.
This project isn’t just about skateboarding—it’s about creating opportunities and building a lasting impact. For Cherokee, the skatepark represents a place where kids can channel their energy into something positive, keeping them engaged, healthy, and out of trouble. It’s a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives to inspire change.
The journey to complete the skatepark came with challenges, including unexpected natural disasters that tested the team’s perseverance. Despite these setbacks, the resilience and dedication of everyone involved - including the town, brought the project to life, making the final outcome even more meaningful which was completed in Summer 2024.
The skatepark's grand opening was a moment of celebration for the town.
Pro skater Tom Ryen joined the festivities, showing off his skills and inspiring the next generation of skaters. Families and friends gathered to experience the park together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Live music and community spirit filled the air, marking the start of a new era for skateboarding in Cherokee.
This skatepark isn’t just a collection of ramps and rails; it’s a vibrant addition to Cherokee that will serve the community for years to come. By providing a safe and fun environment for skaters to progress and connect, it’s set to become a cornerstone of local culture and activity.
OC Ramps is proud to have been part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to help shape such a meaningful space. For those who haven’t yet visited, Cherokee’s skatepark is ready and waiting to welcome skaters from near and far.
