GatorSkins uses paper saturated with phenolic resin, then pressed and cured into panels for ramp surfacing. Consider it as the riding-surface material for the setup you are building or refreshing. Keep the ramp's supporting construction and the surface installation together in the project plan.
Use ninety-four inches in your layout
Each panel is forty-eight inches wide and ninety-four inches long. That is two inches shorter than a full eight-foot sheet, so use the supplied size when planning cuts and coverage. Check the panel layout before ordering rather than treating the product's four-by-eight name as an exact measurement.

Choose Brown or Green for the ramp
Select Brown or Green for the surface you want in your setup. Either color can be ordered without the preparation service or with preparation for an eligible OC Ramps kit. Choose the color and preparation together so the order matches both the look and the build you have planned.
Have the panels prepared for your kit
For an OC Ramps kit, add pre-drilling, countersinking and cutting to size so those jobs are handled before installation. If you are building a DIY ramp, order without the preparation service and work to your own design. Both choices start with the same forty-eight-by-ninety-four-inch panel size.

Does GatorSkins replace the structural plywood in a ramp?
GatorSkins serves as the final riding surface. Keep the ramp's supporting structure specified by its construction plan, then lay out the selected Brown or Green panels over the prepared ramp surface.
Does choosing GatorSkins remove the need to plan a proper halfpipe foundation?
No. Choosing a riding-surface panel does not replace planning the ramp's base and supporting structure. Follow the ramp's construction plan, then use the forty-eight-by-ninety-four-inch panel dimensions to work out the surface layout.
Will GatorSkins eliminate ongoing protection and care for an outdoor ramp?
No. Keep the complete ramp in the care plan, including its supporting wood, fasteners, seams and surroundings. Follow the relevant ramp and surface care directions rather than assuming that changing the riding surface removes those jobs.
How are GatorSkins panels used?
GatorSkins are final riding-surface panels for a compatible skate ramp project. Match the panel count and cut plan to the exact ramp, choose the listed Brown or Green configuration, and use the OC Ramps preparation service only with a compatible OC Ramps kit.

Eligible unused products may be requested for return within 30 calendar days of purchase when they are in original condition and packaging with all included parts and manuals. Customized, used, skated, damaged, or incomplete products are not eligible, and freight, original shipping, processing costs, and a restocking fee may apply. The internet has all sorts of terrible ideas as to how to quiet or dampen the sound of your skateboard ramp - in particular the mini ramps (or halfpipes).
You may read about wives tales on using insulation, filling the coping with whatever, or add pillows and blankets behind the ramp. We are here to clear the air….that is all nonsense.
There are really only 2 suggestions to help quiet your mini ramp.
- You can close up the back of your skateboard ramp with ¾” thick plywood. This will eliminate the hollow sound significantly. Again, don’t read into the bogus information about filling in that empty space before you close it up with plywood. It doesn’t work. Simply closing up the backend will help with the noise. Some customers will get creative with it- we’ve seen several put hinges on the backend - making a custom door for storage, etc. That is entirely optional to make use of the space. But in terms of noise levels, close it up.
- Also using a softer gel wheel is helpful to give you the incognito vibe your neighbors won’t complain about while shredding your skateboard ramp. Generally the harder the wheel, the louder they hear ya coming! Many skaters have multiple skateboards with a different set of wheels, most prefer the harder wheels during normal street skating use & then at night we switch over to the gel softer wheels so your neighbor’s can get their precious sleep & you can shred your heart out! Not every skater likes riding a gel wheel. There are many pros/cons. For this conversation, the biggest pro for having a softer wheel is the reduced noise factor. If you have neighbors that are goin to be a narc, just throw on the soft wheels!
