2021 Recap!
All Around the United States
2021 was a fun-filled year for the OC Ramps crew. We have had some fun projects underway that finally launched, worked with some awesome people, and were able to handle some great ramp builds!
We launched our line of fingerboard ramps and our furniture line. These were both projects which the team has been discussing for years. After bouncing ideas off one another and working through prototypes, we finally launched both of these product lines and they have been a hit! We also added to our shoe box - skate ledge collection by adding in the eS Shoe Box. I wonder what 2022 will bring to the OC Ramps product line... Stay tuned to find out.
We also worked with DC Shoes to build ramp kits for their giveaways with Zumiez. The first was our 8 ft wide Half Pipe which DC had customized to follow a Bob's Burgers theme in honor of their collaboration with Bob's Burgers. The second was a Shoe Box - Skate Ledge which was customized for their collaboration with Black Sabbath. The OC Ramps crew loved being involved with both of these projects! We look forward to more collaborations in 2022.
We took part in the first annual Breastival event with Pushing for Pink and GUESS. It was amazing to be part of an event which emphasized and gave back to breast cancer awareness. Our team customized a few ramps for the event and some of our team skaters stopped by for the fun! We also hosted an incredible group of veteran's during a Six Feet Above retreat. Owner and CEO of OC Ramps, Tyler Large, had the best time getting to know these guys. They spent the afternoon shredding the OC Ramps skate park and sharing stories and laughs.
We worked on a ramp rental with MVMT during Spring 2021. It was for a photo shoot they were doing with the one and only, Nyjah Huston. It was located in beautiful Joshua Tree, California outside of the well known glass house. See our blog post for more information and photos of Nyjah shredding the ramp in the desert.
We built a customized skate park for the town of Marissa, Illinois. This was one of our absolute favorite memories from 2021. It was an incredible opportunity and an honor to work with the mayor of Marissa, IL and hear about the whole town came together for this collaboration. This truly put this small town on the map. We are sure that the skaters in this community have years of fun and memories ahead of them.
Our team built a custom backyard bowl for this rad customer in San Diego, California. There was a lot of preparation that went into this build and we enjoyed every minute of it! The different customized extensions and deck size made this customized bowl one-of-a-kind. The views which this customer has while he shreds his new backyard bowl also is incredible to say the least! It is safe to say that this spot was made for a bowl!
We also flew out to Virginia Beach, Virginia for one of our favorite customers. He was interested in a customized mini ramp. Due to the dimensions which were decided on, we decided to call this one the mini vert ramp. We prepared all of the materials and shipped them out to Virginia Beach. Once they arrived, they crew hopped on a plane and took off to the East Coast. We had an absolute blast on this build! We cannot wait to see what he decides to add next to his at-home skate park.
Then came this rad ramp build for Avril Lavigne! Two of our mini half pipe ramps at different heights were installed side-by-side to create this multi-level backyard ramp. We also customized the colors to her taste! Shortly after, Avril Lavigne did a collaboration with Tony Hawk. We are sure you have all seen the TikTok they released while skating Avril's brand new ramp in honor of her 20 year anniversary of her hit song Sk8er Boi.
Before Shaun White hit the slopes and began preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, we built him his very own customized spine ramp. Our team drove out to sunny Nevada with the ramp and were able to get this done in just a matter of days. Also, shout out to Skatelite who helped to sponsor this ramp and donated the Skatelite sheets needed to make this ramp stronger and more durable when it comes to weather wear and tear. Now Shaun has a sweet spot to shred when slope season is closed.
Right before the holiday season hit, Soulja Boy hit us up on Instagram. He was looking to start building towards his very own at-home skate park. Since he was getting ready to leave for tour right before the build, we decided to start small with one half pipe. Soulja Boy went with custom colors for his ramp to really make it his own. He had a blast watching us build and had to put the ramp to the test with TomTom, one of the professional skaters on our team who also comes out on the builds.
We wrapped up the 2021 year with a few final installations. One of our favorite last installations for the year was for Tiffani Theissen and Brady Smith. They wanted to surprise their two skaters with a fully customized mini ramp for Christmas. One thing we loved about this installation was that Brady took part in the fun by painting the radius pieces of the ramp while the crew continued the full installation. It was a full team effort. The ramp looked unbelievable when all was said and done. Their little shredders were stoked on their new backyard mini ramp!
Stay tuned for all we have in store during 2022! Happy New Year everyone!
